Debra Kahn Schofield is a regular contributor to Guerrilla Marketing Online. She
has 15 years of experience as a writer and editor for consumer
and trade
publications, small business, consulting and research firms. She
currently
works part-time for the University of California San Francisco
Library,
researching, writing and editing instructional guides, helping
produce HTML
pages for the Library's web site and managing an electronic bulletin
board.
Debra graduated from New York University with a BA in Journalism
and worked
for trade magazines in the fields of tourism and fashion. For
several years
she was a copywriter for Avon products, writing promotional copy,
advertising
slogans and taglines for makeup, skincare, gift, jewelry, and
children's
products.
In 1989 Debra moved to the Bay Area and began her consulting career.
She
edited the monthly newsletter and supported the marketing efforts
of an
optical data storage company. She helped launch a trade magazine
in the
retail marketing field. At a marketing communications firm specializing
in
multimedia clients, she created press materials, arranged media
placement and
speaking engagements.
Debra has the distinction of having owned one of the very first
Macintosh
computers on the market. When she opened the monitor, she found the
names of the
original 40-or-so Apple employees etched on the back panel.
